Science and Technology are evolving at a tremendous pace today . Yet , where is it leading us ? A look at the history of Germany will show us where unrestrained science can lead .
Just prior to World War 2 Germany was the most well-educated nation in the world . Within a few years however the Nazi propaganda machine succeeded in subverting ethical constraints so that extermination of the 'physically or socially unfit' became openly acceptable . This was an extension of Hitlers contention that'there are lives unworthy of life '. Shocking ? Yes , but true .
Small wonder that Genreal Douglas McArthur conceded "We are technological giants - but ethical infants ."
Can we afford to sacrifice morality on the altar of expediency ?
